No Knead Brioche Hamburger Buns

No Knead Brioche Hamburger Buns from Karen's Kitchen Stories

I've always been curious about brioche hamburger buns. The idea of serving a juicy hamburger in a rich and buttery bun sounds totally decadent.

Chicken Chow Fun (without the Fun) | Wok Wednesdays

Chicken Chow Fun from Karen's Kitchen Stories

This is Chicken Chow Fun, but it is missing the haw fun (the rice noodles).

Chow Fun is essentially a stir fry with meat, veggies, and broad rice noodles (the Fun). As a matter of fact, for another Wok Wednesdays adventure, we all made Beef Chow Fun, so I am "experienced" using the noodles.

Kardemummabullar | Swedish Cardamom Rolls

Kardemummabullar | Swedish Cardamom Rolls from Karen's Kitchen Stories

I've been a little obsessed with these Swedish Cardamom Rolls, or Kardemummabullar, ever since I discovered them. I was first completely smitten by their delicate looking shaping. Now that I have tasted them, I am in love with the complex flavor of the cardamom that is infused in the dough, the filling, the glaze, and even the sprinkling of cardamom flavored sugar on the top of these rolls.

Spicy Halibut Ceviche with Casera Style Tortilla Chips | #FishFridayFoodies

Spicy Halibut Ceviche with Casera Style Tortilla Chips from Karen's Kitchen Stories

This Spicy Halibut Ceviche is so refreshing and bold. It is an amazing appetizer and is representative of seaside Mexican street food. I'm so glad I finally tried making it!

I'm in this little group of Fish Friday food blogger pals who post fish dishes on the third Friday of every month. We were pulled together by my friend Wendy of A Day in the Life on the Farm. The theme of this month's Fish Friday is "spicy," chosen by Caroline of Caroline's Cooking.

Strawberry Cheesecake Bars with Homemade Fresh Strawberry Jam #Creative Cookie Exchange

Strawberry Cheesecake Bars with Homemade Fresh Strawberry Jam from Karen's Kitchen Stories

These Strawberry Cheesecake Bars are so creamy and decadent. Add the toasted pecan butter cookie crust, and you will have a hard time resisting slicing off "just a leetle bit more" every time you pass by the pan. I took these bars to work and they disappeared.

Because I love you guys, and because the theme of this month's Creative Cookie Exchange is seasonal spring baking, I made a batch of fresh ice box strawberry jam for the strawberry swirl. If you decide to use store bought strawberry preserves, they will be just as tasty. I promise, I won't judge.

Crispy Herb and Sugar Plum Grape Tomato Focaccia

Crispy Herb and Sugar Plum Grape Tomato Focaccia

This crispy Herb and Sugar Plum Grape Tomato Focaccia originally had the descriptor "thin" in it as well, but when I slid it onto the baking stone, it puffed up like crazy! This is not a bad thing. The bread is full of amazing, amazing (yes, I said amazing twice, and now a third time) airiness.

Strawberry Whiskey Sour

Strawberry Whiskey Sour from Karen's Kitchen Stories

This Strawberry Whiskey Sour is so frothy and refreshing. It's sort of like a grown up smoothie.

In southern California, strawberry stands begin to pop up as early as March and stay open as late as August. You can buy flats loaded with strawberries that are juicy and huge. Mr. Kitchen is in charge of stalking the empty lot on a corner near our house until they finally erect the wooden stand and begin selling them.

Mini Cheddar Bialys | #BreadBakers

Mini Cheddar Bialys from Karen's Kitchen Stories

These Mini Cheese Bialys take traditional bialys and turn them into a tasty little cheesy snack!

What are bialys you ask? They are a delicious traditional bread that originated in the Jewish quarter of Bialystok, Poland. You can read more about their history and how they disappeared from Poland but survived in New York city in this post.

Yogurt and Wheat Germ Bread

Yogurt and Wheat Germ Bread from Karen's Kitchen Stories

This yogurt and wheat germ bread is wonderful for sandwiches and morning toast. It's super easy to make, and the final bread is light and airy, which is pretty amazing for a loaf with a large percentage of whole wheat and wheat germ. It's also really flavorful.

I made this bread mostly to use some of the yogurt I bought when I made this naan. For some reason, at least in my neighborhood, you can't just buy an eight ounce container of plain container of yogurt anymore. Instead, my only option was a 32 ounce container. There are now so many iterations of yogurt that there is little room for the plain Jane version on the supermarket shelves I suppose.

Stir-Fried Squid with Black Bean Sauce | Wok Wednesdays

This Stir-Fried Squid with Black Bean Sauce is incredibly rich and tasty.

Stir-Fried Squid with Black Bean Sauce

This recipe was developed by Chef Danny Chan, who taught it to Grace Young, the author of Stir Frying to the Sky's Edge, which is the book we Wok Wednesdays devotees have been stir frying our way through since 2012 (I joined in 2013).

Grilled Marinated Flank Steak with Roquefort and Avocado Spread

This grilled marinated flank steak with Roquefort and avocado spread is wonderful wrapped in a tortilla filled with pico de gallo, cilantro, onions, and shredded cabbage.

Grilled Marinated Flank Steak with Roquefort and Avocado Spread

I love grilled steaks topped with melty blue cheese. I love to mix crumbled blue cheese with some butter and let it melt and spread over a steak while it is just finishing on the grill. So good.

How about a freshly grilled juicy burger topped with blue cheese and bacon? Ridiculous, in a very good way. Blue cheese and beef are the perfect flavor combination.
