What I love about this butternut squash and ginger soup, besides the fact that it is so nutritious and delicious, is that you can have just about as much of it as you'd like without worrying about the calorie count.

This Slow Cooker Chicken and Corn Chowder is so warming, filling, rich tasting, and perfect for a winter lunch or dinner.

I am so excited about this Slow Cooker Chicken and Corn Chowder. I love the fact that this is not a "dump and run" slow cooker recipe. There's some prep involved, both at the beginning and end, which adds freshness and deep flavor to the soup.

Multigrain Snickerdoodles | #CreativeCookieExchange

The recipe for these Multigrain Snickerdoodles takes the traditional cinnamon cookie and adds whole grains, including rolled oats, barley flour, and whole wheat flour.

These Multigrain Snickerdoodles, made with 100% whole grains, are so tasty. All of the whole grains add lots of dietary fiber to the cookies. The barley flour adds a lovely sweet, nut-like flavor, the oats add texture, and the whole wheat adds more depth of flavor.

Fouace Nantaise | Two Ways

Fouace Nantaise is a rum and faintly orange flavored, slightly sweet brioche bread that is native to Nantes, France.

Fouace Nantaise with whole wheat

Fouace Nantaise, or Nantes Fougasse, is a flower shaped loaf with six petals, meant to represent a star. It was developed in the mid nineteenth century in a village near Nantes, which is along the Loire River in France. It is recommended that it be served with Muscadet, an acidic and citrusy wine from the same region.

These Cheese Straws with Parmesan, Gruyere, and Thyme are a wonderful appetizer, and so easy to make with frozen puff pastry.

These are delicious with a glass of wine or a cocktail. They are really easy to make using frozen puff pastry, although making your own homemade puff pastry is kind of a revelation.

This Chorizo Macaroni and Cheese with Cheddar and Cotija takes the flavors of English and Mexican cheeses and combines them into about the best macaroni and cheese I've ever tried.
This Chorizo Macaroni and Cheese with Cheddar and Cotija takes the flavors of English and Mexican cheeses and combines them into about the best macaroni and cheese I've ever tried.

This Chorizo Macaroni and Cheese with Cheddar and Cotija is so flavorful from the combination of the medium sharp white cheddar and the salty, hard, and grainy Cotija cheese. I also added a small amount of Monterey Jack cheese for creaminess.

My 10 Favorite Recipes from 2016

These are my favorite recipe posts from 2016.

My 10 Favorite Recipes from 2016 from Karen's Kitchen Stories
Happy New Year! This year, I decided to round up some of my favorite recipes from 2016 to kick off 2017. The criteria for making this list were.. Does this recipe make me do the happy dance? Do I go, "OMG" when I take my first bite? Does everyone, and I mean everyone, who tries this ask for the recipe? Or... when I open the oven or lift up the lid on the pot, do I jump up and down with glee?
