Orange Pomegranate Sangria

Serve this wonderfully refreshing orange pomegranate sangria at your next backyard barbecue.

Today's #SummerGrilling recipe has been sponsored by Torani and Joy Jolt, however, all opinions are my own. #ad #JoyJolt #ToraniFlavor #SummerGrilling.

This orange pomegranate sangria is easy to make. Combine a bottle of red wine, some brandy, orange juice, pomegranate juice, and Torani blood orange syrup. Toss in slices of fresh lemons, apples, and oranges, and let the mixture steep in the refrigerator for at least two hours and up to two days.

I'm a huge fan of the flavor of blood oranges. Sadly, their season is pretty brief. Fortunately, you can capture the deep red color and sweet tart flavor of blood oranges with this blood orange syrup.

This is my first time making sangria at home, and now I wonder what I was waiting for. This cocktail is so delicious.

What is sangria?

Typically, sangria is a Spanish or Portuguese drink made with wine, brandy, juices or fruit purees, and fruit. The sky's the limit as to what fruit to include depending on the season.

While red wine is traditional, you can make it with red or white wine. In fact, white wine sangria is fabulous with summer stone fruit such as peaches.

Fun fact: The use of the term "sangria" by itself is geographically restricted to Spain or Portugal by the EU. I guess I will have to take my chances with the European Union sangria police.

For the oranges, I used slices of little Clementines. They are so juicy and easy to thinly slice. The green apple slices get more flavorful the longer they sit in the sangria.

You can serve sangria in stemmed glasses, double old fashioned glasses, or highball glasses. I am loving these Stella highball glasses from Joy Jolt

For some reason, we didn't have any highball glasses, so receiving these for this event came in super handy! They're great for serving a gin and tonic, a Pimm's Cup, iced tea or coffee, an Arnold Palmer, or another refreshing summer sip.
