Wicked Witch Cones

These Wicked Witch Cones are a fun project you can do with kids. I should probably put the word wicked in quotes because these cones don't look at all wicked to me!

I made these wicked witch cones with ice cream, so it took a little while to make these because I had to keep returning them to the freezer to keep them from melting. I guess I could have made "melting witch" cones!

They do have innocent eyes, don't they?

I think these would be fun to make with cake pops, and a little less stressful to decorate, but then you'd have to make a cake first.

Ingredients:

Ice Cream - Your favorite flavor.

Sprinkles - For the eyes and mouth.

Candy - I cut some black gummy candies into strips for the hair strands.

Cones - I used chocolate Oreo flavored cones for the hats.

Magic Shell Coating - I used a "unicorn" coating, although you can barely see the little colors. For a recipe to make your own coating, check out my post on making homemade Drumsticks.

Maybe she'd be scarier if I added a little green food coloring oil to the Magic Shell!

Cookies - You could use them for the bottom of the head if you like.

To Make These Wicked Witch Cones:

First, scoop the ice cream into balls and then place them in the freezer to make sure they are hard.

Next, fill the cones with ice cream and then place them into the freezer to harden the ice cream.

After that, coat the ice cream scoops with the Magic Shell and return them to the freezer for about 30 minutes. Then, decorate the scoops with the hair, the eyes, and the mouth. You can use a little wet Magic shell added with a toothpick for attaching the features. Return to the freezer.

Finally, squeeze a little magic shell on the ice cream in the cone and then attach it to the coated scoop.

Optionally, you can place the bottom of the scoop on a cookie, attached with more Magic shell. The Halloween themed Oreos are super cute.

You can make these in advance and keep them in the freezer for desserts or snacks.

You can also host a decorating party, with everyone enjoying their own creation after lunch or dinner. If you're hosting kids, be sure there are extra sprinkles for snacking.

My decorating skills need a little bit of work (okay, a lot), which is probably why I don't have many elaborately decorated cakes or cookies featured on here!

Note: The reason for leaving the bones in the bone-in beef shortribs at first is that bones are much easier to remove after cooking without sacrificing some of the meat. In additiion, the bones do bring flavor.
