This Italian wedding soup is pretty incredible. The soup begins with meatballs made with ground chicken, spicy sausage, and lots of Pecorino Romano and Parmesan cheese.

Corn Maque Choux with Hot Smoked Sausage
Maque Choux, a traditional corn dish from southern Louisiana, is fast and easy to prepare, and with hot smoked sausage, is a wonderful 30-minute meal.
Maque Choux (pronounced "mock shoe") is a Creole dish with corn, bell peppers, onions, and green onions. It can also include other vegetables and tomatoes, and even okra. It's a delicious weeknight (or anytime) one pan meal.

Sausage and Cambozola Pizza with Arugula and Grapes
This hot Italian sausage pizza, topped with Cambozola, ricotta, and Fontina cheeses, as well as grapes and shallots, is magical, and the roasted grapes add a savory sweet compliment to the three cheeses in the pizza.
I'm sure you're thinking, "grape pizza? That's weird!" Not so! Just think of it as artisan bread, wine, and cheese! You definitely need to give it a chance.

This breakfast casserole also makes excellent leftovers! Just store, covered, in the refrigerator for up to five days. We reheated slices in the toaster oven at 350 degrees F.

Sausage and Spinach Pie
This Sausage and Spinach Pie is packed with the goodness of spinach. A lot of spinach.
There are two pounds of fresh spinach in this spinach and sausage pie. That's a quarter pound per serving. There are also leeks, eggs, and milk. This is a simple crustless pie that can be served for breakfast or brunch. If you omit the sausage, it would make an excellent side dish for dinner.

Chicken, Shrimp, and Sausage Gumbo
This Chicken, Shrimp, and Sausage Gumbo is such a rich and hearty stew.
Gumbo is the official cuisine of the state of Louisiana. It begins with a very dark roux, and is flavored with onions, bell peppers, and celery, according to the Interwebs, the "holy trinity" of vegetables.
Gumbo melds together the flavors of several cultures, including French, West African, and Choctaw.

These Fried Sausages and Apples are from the well-researched book The Hamilton Cookbook by my friend Laura Kumin of the blog, Mother Would Know.
When Laura asked if I would be willing to review her new book, I jumped at the chance.

Spicy Pigs in a Blanket
These Spicy Pigs in a Blanket take me back to the days when I was first learning to cook. (It's also a great recipe for game day, and they are ridiculously easy to make.)
I decided to make these spicy Pigs in a Blanket to honor the old community cookbooks that, at one point, were the only cookbooks I owned besides my well worn copy of Joy of Cooking (I won't tell you which edition it was, because it makes me feel really old, and I like to keep up appearances).
